Ever wonder why we chose a nasal cannula for CMAP? 🤔

At first glance, it might seem “clinical.” In fact, many in the sleep apnea industry were quick to dismiss the concept, assuming people would reject it just like they reject CPAP masks. But here’s the key difference: CPAP delivers positive pressure, CMAP’s cannula is completely passive. It simply captures airflow and airway pressure without adding anything. That’s a big distinction.

If you want accurate, actionable insights into breathing patterns, especially the subtle, unconscious breath-holding of Day Apnea® or Screen Apnea®, there’s no better option.

Consider today’s home sleep apnea tests:

Most rely on blood oximetry devices (finger, ring, or watch sensors). While convenient, they don’t directly measure shallow breathing. By the time oxygen levels drop enough to trigger an alert, it’s too late, the opportunity to retrain breathing patterns and prevent Day or Screen Apnea has already passed.

Other wearables miss the mark on subtle breathing patterns:

❌ Thoracic bands? Capture gross chest movement but miss shallow breaths.

❌ Microphones? Too noisy, unreliable for true respiration.

❌ Cameras? Great for posture, not for airflow.

The nasal cannula remains the gold standard for capturing even the faintest breaths and precise airway pressure. This critical data is often overlooked, yet it’s foundational to early detection. We built CMAP to bring this precision where none existed before.

If you’re serious about health data that can drive real change, sometimes it means embracing a tool for its unmatched insights, not its aesthetics. Think of the early fitness trackers, it wasn’t about how they looked, but what they revealed.

I personally wear my CMAP prototype daily, especially during long hours at my desk. It gently alerts me when old breath-holding patterns resurface, helping me stay aware and improve over time. Even students in meditation classes find it invaluable for validating their breathwork, unlocking a new level of self-awareness.
